Reclaiming A Classic: Does The 500 Have What It Takes?

Follow-ups, re-launches, call them what you will but usually the re-introduction of a new version of an old favourite in motoring terms tends to point to one of two things – that the manufacturer is out of ideas and desperate to rekindle some of the original’s magic in terms of sales and appeal and, unfortunately, the relative failure of the new addition.

It’s a cynical approach, sure, but there is history to look back on and say “see!” Take the attempts to reintroduce two sixties favourites: the Mini and the Beetle. Neither really had anything to do with the original aside from the name and a scant, passing resemblance. The new Mini, for example, is hardly mini and the Beetle is hardly the low-budget funky little thing it once was.

So, the, what of the latest of re-launches, the rebirth of Fiat’s 500? It ran from 1957-75 placing the majority of its tenure on the tarmac in the sixties. It certainly has all the style and attitude of a sixties classic. It was compact – some could happily say “dinky” – had the daintiest of engines and pretty much ran on air.

Nothing Fiat threw into the motoring world since has had the same appeal, inspired as much adoration or proved as popular as the 500 so if any car from their stable was to be re-launched, rather the 500 than the Panda, right?

While obviously not identical to its name sake, the new 500 does share more than a passing similarity and retains all the quirkiness that made its historical counterpart the hit it became. It’s also priced comparatively low and, something that’s bound to prove popular with the equivalent generation to those that bought the original 500, kicks out precious little emissions and gives back plenty of miles for petrol intakes.

There’s plenty to like in the new 500. It really doesn’t look like anything else out there and, in an age where most modern cars resemble electric razors and are only separated by badge, this is a big plus. For a small car, the 500 is a sturdy little motor and there’s no chance of feeling endangered by overtaking lorries, stiff breezes or sneezing mice as if often the case with other small cars.

Fiat have also taken a few steps to widen the appeal of their ‘new’ little car. They’ve covered the petrol head fan base by handing the keys to Abarth and saying – one can assume – “go nuts.” Then, to go for the a different appeal altogether, got together with a toll manufacturer and tin of pink paint to create a special edition of the 500 in line with the anniversary of Barbie, giving the car a new colour scheme inside and some crystal-hubcaps. Because, presumably, they can.

At this year’s Geneva motor show, as the car-buying public clamoured for more fuel efficient cars that didn’t hold back on looks, Fiat grabbed headlines with their perfectly-timed launch of the new 500 Convertible. Already possessing the car that the motoring public wanted all they had to do was take the roof off for this funky little runner to get more interest.

As Fiat take out all the stops to make sure their ‘new’ classic hits as broad an appeal as the original at what is, in economy terms, the perfect time, all the signs are in place for this one to achieve the same, if not greater, success and out-do the original 500.

Rebuilding Old Adult site for Legit Adsense

I used to own warez adult site with .com extension and currently it’s on sell at SEDO. Today I came up with an idea to start a legit site with this domain with original content. I’m having trouble getting into Adsense with my other sites. I don’t really want wait for 6 month with a new domain because i’m planing to buy some optimized already ranking Adsense sites.

So my idea is to fill this 3 year old domain with 30+ original pages and apply for Adsense. But I’m not so sure about it coz domain used to be a hardcore site.

It’s a 5 letter domain and has no adult words in it

Books: Good for the Mind/Bad for the Environment? How Reusing Books Creates Value in

da78e EP In Focus Banner Books: Good for the Mind/Bad for the Environment? How Reusing Books Creates Value in
62565 Books bad for Environment Books: Good for the Mind/Bad for the Environment? How Reusing Books Creates Value in
With over a million new books published in the U.S. each year*one might think that getting your hands on a good book wouldn’t be too hard, despite the growing popularity of e-readers.* But the truth, as they say, can sometimes be stranger than fiction.* Organizations focused on building literacy in underserved areas, such as schools, libraries and non-profits can benefit greatly from books – even gently- used ones – but may have trouble obtaining them.

Though many people carefully consider the lifespan of their books, others intent on spring-cleaning or those looking for a more convenient option of moving used books out of their homes simply throw them away. But discarding your old books can adversely affect the environment, cramming landfills with materials that will take years to decompose.* And – by dumping your books you may be missing an important opportunity to support someone in need.
Now, organizations like the one I work for, Discover Books (formerly Thrift Recycling Management), encourages people to consider repurposing their books for the benefit of others.* Based in the Seattle, Washington area, we are a book collector, online reseller and a socially-minded organization dedicated to the ideal that where books are concerned, reuse is the best possible form of recycling.** By reselling, recycling or charitably redistributing books, our company ensures that millions of otherwise good books are treasured, not trashed.
Triple Bottom Line in Action: Win-Win for People, Planet and Profit
As one of the largest online sellers of used books on Amazon we also strive to have a fiscally sound organization able to grow and contribute to a growing number of jobs in communities across North America.* Yet like many organizations today, our mission extends beyond profit-making.* *We are one the single largest sources of book donations to literary causes or literacy organizations in North America.* With over six million books donated to non-profit causes like schools, charitable organizations and libraries, we’re proud of the opportunity we have to give back.* Our good work doesn’t end there, our efforts have also diverted over 155-million pounds, or 78-tons of books, from landfills in just eight years. **
Here’s how it works.
Our company collects books from multiple sources; buying used books from thrift stores that otherwise might go to landfill, or purchasing library discards to sell online, returning a portion of the revenue back to the library.* We also place deposit boxes in neighborhoods as a convenient local option for people who want books out of their homes while ensuring they will be re-read, or, in some cases, recycled as another consumer good.
We estimate that to date we have generated more than $25 million in value for non-profit organizations, corporate partners, thrift stores and libraries through the collection, sale and charitable distribution of used books.

“At a time when school and library budgets are being cut, having organizations with the infrastructure and resources to recycle used books by putting them *to good use is invaluable,” says Kathleen Andrews of PhoenixReads.org, a volunteer grassroots initiative that collects unwanted books from individuals and redistributes them directly into the hands of children in need.* “Companies like Discover Books are able to do a lot of good because they have the resources to do it with,” Andrews continued.* “I don’t know any non-profit organization that could to the same; the resources and infrastructure simply wouldn’t exist.”

So, if you have books that are in good condition or even those that are barely holding it together, don’t let them gather dust unread.* Instead, consider these options:

  • Companies like ours have deposit boxes in locations around the U.S. and Canada.* You can also call your local recycling city department and ask where and how to recycle books that can no longer be used.
  • Beyond organizations like Discover Books that resell, recycle and donate books, you can always bring your books to a local school or your local library (call first to ensure they will receive your donation) or to charitable organizations like Goodwill.
  • If you would like trade or swap books, you can go to sites such as PaperBackSwap where you can list your used books and send via mail to interested parties. In return, you get select used books from a large selection (usually in the millions) of available novels, text books, and more.

Jeff McMullin is the President of Discover Books, formerly Thrift Recycling Management, one of the largest book collection and online resell organizations in North America.* Mr. McMullin oversees the day-to-day operating activities of Discover Books, based in the Seattle, Washington area, including leading the company’s social responsibility efforts.*** He is one of the company’s original co-founders and is passionate about creating environmental sustainability and literacy for all.

Successful Weight Loss Starts In Your Mind

How can weight loss start in your mind? Surely it is what you put into your mouth that is important?

What is it about weight loss that is so elusive? Obesity rates soar, so many people feel increasingly more uncomfortable, and yet something seems to keep stopping people from losing weight? Why is effective and long term weight loss such a difficult nut to crack for what would seem to be the majority of the population?

The irony to many is that they do not enjoy the food which they are consuming. They enjoy the idea of it, but do not even enjoy the experience of savoring it. For some a sign which indicates a large portion is an instant pull, for others it is a particular taste, be it chocolate or cheese. And a few just find that the idea of food, no matter what type, taste or size, is just a magnet to their soul.

The opposite is true as well about some types of food. You could have an aversion to oysters, vodka, or an entire type of food, perhaps seafood. These are just examples, of course. Such aversions are only rarely caused by an actual allergy to that type of food; rather, this aversion is based on experience. I mentioned vodka, because this alcoholic drink is often the one drunk by youngsters in the UK, and often abused and consumed to excess. Vodka seems to be most popular with the younger generation as it has so little taste. It’s therefore easy to drink and to get drunk upon.

When one gets drunk, one can have a very unpleasant experience, feeling sick, getting sick, and more and more frequently these days ending up in the care of the emergency services. With such a highly emotional experience it is very easy for one’s mind to record this as something bad and in effect to “red flag” it and create a subsequent aversion to the cause – vodka. As my partner just commented, it’s a shame that alcohol in general is not red flagged!

Your mind has the ability to make both positive and negative associations with specific types of food and alcohol, and more generalized categories of edible items, some of which you will be aware of the root cause and some of which you will not be aware of. These associations are very rarely based on taste and certainly not upon pure hunger. They are based instead on emotional connections due to one’s experiences and observations.

Have you analyzed your feelings about food? Do you enjoy the taste and texture, the sight, the sensation of crunchiness or smoothness in your mouth? Do you see how long you can savor each taste for, or just gulp down each spoonful without full awareness? Do you take time to place your knife and fork down upon the table and become aware of how your tummy feels? Have you worked out what eating excess food does for you in a positive way, or is it merely habit?

Apply these questions to alcohol as well as to food, seeing as both involve calorific intake. Why do you drink vodka instead of Gin, and so on? And why do you have just one glass, or two, or a bottle? Is it taste, or perhaps environment, or just pure habit?

Everyone is different; everyone lives in accordance with their own experiences and expectations of life. There are also cultural influences upon what, when and how we eat. “Why” is a great question to ask in order to get to the root of any habit which you are the subject of. If you habitually eat too much, then ask yourself “why?” If you habitually have a sweet tooth then ask yourself “why?” And listen internally to the first answer which pops into your mind, and ask “why” once again…and so on. This, to most, is an extremely enlightening experience.

The next question to ask is “what can I do in order to change?” This, of course, assumes that you do indeed want to change. And this can be the crux of the matter. Perhaps you feel more comfortable being a few pounds overweight, either consciously or subconsciously. Perhaps it is “safer” or more “normal” to be overweight. For so many people, an inner conflict is experienced over the desire to have the perfect weight versus the desire to “fit in”. And this desire to “fit in” can be a fitting in with one’s perception of themselves or a fitting in with how they see their immediate environment. Culture and personal expectations are intertwined and unless you keep asking yourself “why” you will not get to the root of your own pathway to successful weight loss.

At the end of the day, no matter what answers you come up with, a certain amount of mind retraining is needed in order to change. It is acknowledged (and proven) that 90% of success in sport is rooted in one’s mind. This equation is reflective of the success of almost anything in life. And effective weight loss is no exception. 90% of successful, long term, effective weight loss and subsequent balance is in your MIND.

You have to get your mind working for you to enable weight loss. And this is in fact very easy with the help of hypnosis weight loss downloads. Why hypnosis, you may ask? Because hypnosis is a state of relaxation which allows access to the inner workings of your mind, your subconscious mind. You can therefore retrain your mind by removing old assumptions and associations about food (or alcohol) and create new links in your mind which lead to being slim and healthy. By creating new positive links in your subconscious mind these become just as automatic as those old associations.

Hypnosis weight loss downloads are available instantly in your own home and they are inexpensive. They are amazingly effective, and will allow you to imagine yourself in a slim new way. You will see yourself in a new light, with new eyes, from a new perspective, and this is the only way in which you will lose weight effectively. Diets alone simply do not work – they only tackle 10% of the issue. You mind deals with the other 90% of you successful weight loss program.

[WTS] Motorcycle Tire Review Site – Monetized with Amazon

I was helping a friend get into affiliate marketing and he decided he was no longer interested so I’m selling off the site he developed. It’s registered through Namecheap through 13 February 2013. The content is all original and site is monetized with Amazon affiliate links. The site’s built on the WordPress platform. This would be a decent site for someone who’s interested enough in the niche to develop better content; it’s a site about motorcycle tires. So far it’s been receiving traffic and is visible in the SERPs for some of the long-tail keyword phrases and tire models. The site has received clickthroughs to Amazon but no purchases as of yet. Below is the traffic stats from awstats on my hosting. The domain is motorcycletirereview[dot]info

[WTS] Motorcycle Tire Review Site Monetized with Amazon

$40 and the site’s all yours. I’ll help you move the site and switch the affiliate links over to your account as well. Paypal and credit cards are the only payments I’ll accept (although I’d be willing to trade for another niche site with Adsense or Amazon).

Radio ads are effective and economical way to get rapid publicity

Jingles are a memorable slogan, set to an engaging melody, mainly broadcast on radio and sometimes on television commercials. It’s the best source of advertising nowadays, because jingles in radio ads produce long lasting effect on mind than other forms of advertisement like brochures or outbound calls etc. Jingle is always in a sequential tone and it catches more attention when you are on a journey and listening to radio so pay more attention to radio ads than any other form of ads. Radio ads are the oldest and most effective way of advertisement. Radio ads can take your product to all over the world so rapid publicity is possible.

Radio ads are easy to make as compared to television and internet ads because visual effects are not necessary here but there they are necessary so radio ads are cost effective not only in making but also by marketing campaign as well because jingles are broadcast at lesser rates than other sources of publicity and we all know that radio covers more audience and following then any other source in cities, villages, colleges and virtually every where. Jingles are in such a lyrics form that everyone reminds them unconsciously, so while singing the jingle product is also marketed so as a result radio ads get more publicity.

If you talk to any media buyer they’ll tell you that all you have to do is be present in the market. They’ll say that the percentage of media presence in the market will be roughly equivalent to your share of your target market. While I can’t dispute the importance of getting your message out there and playing it frequently, one thing media buyers tend to overlook is the importance of the message itself. There’s no point to spending all you hard-earned money on buying the best ad schedule if your message is slipping into the background, as most tend to do. The great thing about radio advertising is that it’s not as expensive as you might think. It’s actually the most cost effective advertising medium there is, even beating out newspapers. So when you’re planning a budget for advertising you should always try to invest a portion into getting something noticeable produced. The production of a commercial will make or break your ad campaign!

Now that we’ve established the importance of quality production, you need to figure out what you’re going to tell people. Every piece of advertising you release should always promote the brand. Your goal needs to be more than just letting people know you’re having a sale or that you opened a new store. Sell the benefit and promote the brand first and foremost. This begs the question, ‘What’s the best way to promote my brand and gain instant recognition?’
Music has a way of getting into our heads and triggering emotions on a sub-conscious level. The concept of a “jingle,” a short message in the form of a tune backed by music, was developed in the 1920′s and today continues to be one of the preferred methods for advertisers around the globe. Not only are they great for instant recognition, but they have a long shelf life. Some jingles last decades and never lose their effectiveness! However, the key to a great jingle, or a useless jingle, often lies in the quality of the production. Don’t skimp on this! Just think about it, you are taking the time and effort to engrain your message into your customers’ heads by appealing to several of their senses, don’t waste the effort by having a horrible quality production. If you do, that’s all the client will remember, horrible production……instead of the message.
There are so many companies vying for the attention of your target market, you need to give them a reason to listen and remember you. A properly produced jingle will do just that…and keep a smile on their face.
Jingles production teams are also more helpful and cooperative at every level as compared to other modes of marketing. They give you suggestions for developing a good quality, effective jingle.

Radio ads should be produced by professional people to make it effective and to be under rules and regulations.

T.R. Knight Out, Katherine Heigl Back on Grey’s Anatomy

Following the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, and the gossip that dominated the series all year long, the buzz was that either T.R. Knight or Katherine Heigl, or both, would be leaving the show at the conclusion of the drama’s fifth year.

Well, it now appears that T.R.’s George O’Malley will move on into the light after his tragic bus accident, while Katherine’s Izzie Stevens will beat brain cancer.

Knight is leaving the show for good, according to EW. Meanwhile, E! News reports that Heigl “will be back,” though neither ABC or the star have commented.

BEST FRIENDS in real life and on TV, T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl have long been the center of Grey’s Anatomy gossip. Looks like one’s going and one’s coming back.

Season Five’s finale left Grey’s Anatomy viewers wondering if Izzie, with cancer, would awake after flatlining, while George struggled to survive a bus crash.

The impression you got was that Izzie was ready to return to her life, while George was fine passing on. Looks like this turned out to be the correct conclusion.

Jessica Capshaw, who plays cute lesbian surgeon Arizona, has been signed as a full-time series regular for the upcoming sixth season, premiering in September.
